Westport A.C. have amassed a total of 13 points already after day one and two in the National Juvenile Championships. There were some terrific performances on both days. Day one started with Caoimhe King winning gold in the U-19 Triple Jump with a new Championship record and a new Junior record of 12.29m. This was closely followed by a superb race by David Harper in the U -16 1500m race. David was leading for most of the race and with 100m to go was being overtaken when he just opened up and sprinted to the finish winning easily in the end. Well done David. Day one finished with a fine performance by Anthony Chambers in the boys U-17 1500m where he secured a bronze medal.
Day two brought some more medals and fine performances with Niamh McLoughlin winning gold in the U-15 girls Shot Putt and Daniel Lavelle taking bronze in the boys U-15 Shot Putt. Well done to Alannah Gannon who jumped 1.30m in the girls U-12 High Jump and won a silver medal. Well done to Bronwyn O'Donnell who had a PB of 1.35m in the girls U-13 high jump.
