Westport Athletic Club juvenile athletes travelled in huge numbers to the All Ireland Novice and Juvenile Uneven Age Cross Country Championships on Sunday, 7th of December in Santry Demesne, Dublin.  The U13 boys(2500m) and the U15 boys(3500m) teams put in exceptional performances both winning National titles.  Cillian Heaney led the U13 boys team home taking fourth place in the huge field of almost 160 athletes and winning an individual medal. Cillian was followed by Malcolm McEvilly(running out of age), Rossa McAllister, Ronan O'Donnell, Oisin Ryall, Ethan Llyod, Shane O'Malley(out of age), Joe Grady, Tommy Scahill, John Grady and Cian Moore who all ran their hearts out, clinching gold for the 'A' team after winning the silver last year.

The U15 boys team were led by Aaron Doherty, running the race of his life, taking second place and the individual silver.  Aaron's teammates Cian McAllister, Sean O'Hanlon, Shane Ryall, Luke Dawson(out of age) and Patrick Chambers all contributed to this team returning to the podium for the fifth successive year.  They won bronze at U11, silver U12, gold U13, bronze U14 and now return to gold at U15, an unbelievable team. A special mention must go to Shane Ryall for such an impressive performance in what was his first cross country race.
