C & C Cellular Mayo UN- Even Ages Cross Country Championships.

The C & C Cellular Mayo Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships were held in the Ballinrobe Race Course last weekend. Large crowd of athletes from all over the county travelled to Ballinrobe for the championships. Weather conditions were perfect with October sunshine adding a summer feel to the day. A special thanks to the members of Lake District Athletic Club for organising a great event and providing much needed refreshments to all. Thanks also to all who officiated on the day and to the John Flannery and committee of Ballinrobe Racecourse for the use of their grounds.

Days two and three of the GloHealth Juvenile All Ireland Athletics Championships took place in Tullamore on Saturday, 11th and Sunday, 12th of July.  Almost 1,000 young athletes contested the national finals on each day.  Westport AC came home with two golds, a silver and a bronze medal to add to the four from the previous weekend.

Five Westport Athletics athletes competed in the GloHealth National Juvenile Combined Events Championships & Children’s Games in Tullamore on Saturday last where there was tremendous competition with athletes as young as U9 competing in running, throwing and jumping events.

Small group of Westport Athletes bring home 17 Golds from Connacht Championships

A relatively small group of Westport Athletics Club athletes made the trip to Claremorris for the Connacht Track & Field Championships on June 14th but between them they brought home no less than 17 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals, meaning that Westport will now be well represented at the All-Ireland championships which will take place throughout July.

Westport Athletics Make All-Irelands

June 12, 2015
Athletes from Connaught, together with Longford, travelled to a wet and windy Claremorris recently to compete in the Connaught juvenile U9-U11 team and U12 individual outdoor championships.  Westport AC had a very successful day qualifying for the All-Irelands in four team events and in five individual events.
