 Westport AC Membership update

Westport AC is the largest Juvenile Athletics club in Mayo and the seventh largest in Ireland in the latest Athletics Ireland club membership report.  Out of the 366 affiliated clubs with Athletics Ireland, Westport AC is currently 20th overall.  

Snapshots of the April 2024 and September 2023 reports showing below. 


We currently have 432 juvenile members, in September 2023 we had 288 juvenile members so a growth of50% in just over a year with total club membership of 550 and climbing each week. 


This growth is in no small part to our wonderful team of coaches who are nurturing our athletes and giving them space to enjoy getting fit in a fun way. 


We have also had huge investment in our facilities in Horkan's Hill and are eagerly awaiting a tartan track in the coming months. 


We are forever indebted to the generosity and support of so many wonderful businesses and individuals in our Community.

 

 

 

Connacht Even Age Cross Country Competition U12-U18

Connacht Even Age Cross Country takes place on Sunday the 1st of November at 1.00pm in Longford.

Athletes wishing to participate, please give your names at training on Thursday 22nd of October. Or text Tammy 087 9492614 with entries.

Entry Fee is €3 PLEASE NOTE NO LATE ENTRIES CAN BE ACCEPTED CLOSING DATE IS THURSDAY 22ND OF OCTOBER.

C & C Cellular Mayo UN- Even Ages Cross Country Championships.

The C & C Cellular Mayo Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships were held in the Ballinrobe Race Course last weekend. Large crowd of athletes from all over the county travelled to Ballinrobe for the championships. Weather conditions were perfect with October sunshine adding a summer feel to the day. Days two and three of the GloHealth Juvenile All Ireland Athletics Championships took place in Tullamore on Saturday, 11th and Sunday, 12th of July.  Almost 1,000 young athletes contested the national finals on each day.  Westport AC came home with two golds, a silver and a bronze medal to add to the four from the previous weekend.

Five Westport Athletics athletes competed in the GloHealth National Juvenile Combined Events Championships & Children’s Games in Tullamore on Saturday last where there was tremendous competition with athletes as young as U9 competing in running, throwing and jumping events.

Small group of Westport Athletes bring home 17 Golds from Connacht Championships

June 20, 2015
A relatively small group of Westport Athletics Club athletes made the trip to Claremorris for the Connacht Track & Field Championships on June 14th but between them they brought home no less than 17 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals, meaning that Westport will now be well represented at the All-Ireland championships which will take place throughout July.
