Mayo Athletics Awards Night

The magnificent achievements by Westport athletes in 2009 were reflected in the number of awards won both individually and by the club at the annual Mayo Awards ceremony which was held in Balla on Friday 26th February.

Silver Medal for Caoimhe in the AVIVA Championships in Birmingham

Caoimhe King continued her winning ways by taking the silver medal at the British Junior (U-20) Championships in Birmingham at the weekend. The winner Laura Samuel is a year older than Caoimhe, which means that Caoimhe can rightly claim to the be top 18 year old triple jumper in the British Isles. 30 Medals at Connacht Indoors

February 18, 2010
Westport A.C. scooped a total of 30 medals at the Connacht Indoor Championships on Sunday last in Nenagh. A total of 14 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze medals were won. A great achievement.

Three Great Performances in Belfast

February 18, 2010
Three Westport athletes participated in the Woodies DIY Senior Indoor Championships in Belfast at the weekend. First up was Cian McManamon in the 5k walk where he secured a PB against World Class Champions Robert Heffernan, Jamie Costin and Colin Griffin.

Next came Pamela Hughes who won Gold and successfully defended her Senior Title jumping 1.75m in what was a great competition. Finally Caoimhe King put in a great performance securing Gold and creating a new Junior Irish Indoor Record jumping...
