WESTPORT AC EXCELS AT CONNAUGHT INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY 2

Last Sunday Westport AC travelled to Nenagh for the second day of the Connaught Juvenile Indoor Championships with srints, middle distance, walks and relays taking place.

The first Westport athlete to win a medal was Ellen Moran in the U18 girls 1500m where she had a marvellous performance and won the first gold medal of the day.  David Harper was next in the U18 boys 1500m, where he stormed home, well ahead, also taking gold.

WESTPORT AC EXCELS AT CONNAUGHT INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY 1

Last Saturday Westport AC travelled to Claremorris for the first day of the Connaught Juvenile Indoor Championships with the hurdles and all the field events taking place.  Normally held in Nenagh, this was the first time Claremorris hosted these Championships in their new indoor arena, an excellent facility.

The first athlete to perform was Alannah Gannon in the U14 girls hurdles where she had a marvellous performance, a pb of 9.9secs and the first gold medal of the day.

C & C Cellular Mayo Indoor Athletic Championships 2012

Over six hundred athletes descended on Claremorris Athletic Club on Sunday
for the C & C Cellular Mayo Indoor Track and Field championships.  It was
great to see athletes from a new club in Ballinrobe taking part.  Competition

Thousands to take to the streets of Castlebar for Western People West of Ireland Women’s Mini Marathon

The third annual Western People West of Ireland Women’s Mini Marathon will take place in Castlebar on Sunday, May 6, 2012. More than 5,000 women are expected to take part in this year’s event.

The event was officially launched in Áras an Chontae, Castlebar on Thursday evening, January 26, by Minister for Sport and Tourism, Michael Ring. The Minister congratulated the organisers and participants who have made the event possible over the last two years and wished them the very best of luck ...

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE FROM ALANNAH GANNON, WESTPORT AC

January 30, 2012

 Alannah Gannon, representing Westport AC, travelled to Nenagh last weekend to compete in Woodie's DIY Juvenile Indoor Combined Events Championships of Ireland.  21 of Ireland's top U14 athletes competed in this grueling 5-event competition.  First up was the 60m Hurdles where Alannah excelled coming second in a PB of 10.04s.  This was followed by the Long Jump and another PB for Alannah with a superb jump of 4.62m, a full 22cm further than her nearest rival.  Next up was the Shot Putt, altho...
