Westport AC

Westport AC is the largest Juvenile Athletics club in Mayo and the seventh largest in Ireland in the latest Athletics Ireland club membership report. Out of the 366 affiliated clubs with Athletics Ireland, Westport AC is currently 20th overall.

We currently have 432 juvenile members, in September 2023 we had 288 juvenile members so a growth of50% in just over a year with total club membership of 550 and climbing each week.

This growth is in no small part to our wonderful team of coaches who are nurturing our athletes and giving them space to enjoy getting fit in a fun way.

We have also had huge investment in our facilities in Horkan's Hill and are eagerly awaiting a tartan track in the coming months.

We are forever indebted to the generosity and support of so many wonderful businesses and individuals in our Community.

Age Category

If you were born in 2015 and are 8 this year or turning 8 before or on 31st Dec 2023 you are Under 9.
You can also run in one age group older, i.e. an athlete born in 2016 can run in an U8 race (in age) but also in an U9 race (out of age).
All athletes need to be registered with an Athletics Club to enter and must be aged 7 or older.

Mayo Evens Cross Country - Westport House - 1st Oct 2023

Today Westport A.C. hosted the The B & J Chambers Mayo Even Ages Cross Country Championships and Senior & Master League.

Without the help from parents, coaches, bakers, sandwich makers and volunteers it would not have been possible. Thank you.

A big shout out to Westport House for letting us use their beautiful grounds. We appreciate it very much.

Athletes travelled from all corners of Mayo to compete at Westport House and give it their all to qualify for the Connacht Championships.

A massive well done to everyone who competed on Thursday in the West Mayo Primary Schools Cross Country. What a great day and what a fantastic course.

Westport AC had some top place finishers also who will go forward to the next stage!!

1st October - Mayo Evens Cross Country - Westport House

Cross Country Season has arrived and we are just THRILLED to get to host the MAYO EVEN AGES races in the beautiful grounds of Westport House THIS Sunday 1st October.

Leave no trace apart from your mark on the course!

Westport are hosting the even ages U8, U10, U12 etc Cross Country Competition on Sunday the 1st October in Westport House, so we want to see huge numbers taking part this year and hopefully we will have teams in all age groups.
