Westport AC Awards Night

This year our Club Awards and Disco will be held on Sunday 27th of January 2013 at 5pm-8pm in Hotel Westport. This is a free event for all our members where we honour the achievements of our young athletes.  Certificates will be given to all athletes who won medals at Mayo, Connaught and all Ireland competition.

Adamstown, Co Wexford was the venue recently for the Uneven National Cross Country Championships where Westport AC had an impressive 23 athletes competing. 3 NATIONAL MEDALS FOR WESTPORT ATHLETIC CLUB

The Woodie’s DIY even age inter county cross country championships were held in the superb surroundings of Tattersalls in Ratoath, County Meath last Sunday and 22 athletes from Westport AC competed. Luckily most of the heavy rain fell in the days leading up to the championships and the day itself remained dry. Underfoot conditions after such heavy rainfall meant the going was very tough.

WESTPORT ATHLETES WIN 3 TEAM GOLDS IN CONNAUGHT CHAMPIONSHIPS

November 16, 2012
Thirty-three juvenile athletes from Westport AC competed in the Connaught  Uneven Age Cross Country held recently in St. Marys College, Galway city, taking home 2 individual Connacht titles, 2 individual silver and a bronze as well as 3 team golds, together with several county medals.

WESTPORT ATHLETES IMPRESS AT CONNAUGHT EVEN AGE CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Ballina AC hosted the superbly organised recent Connaught even age cross-country championships.  27 Juvenile athletes from Westport AC travelled to compete with some excellent performances.

The U12 girls 2000m race was first, and Westport was well represented with Saoirse O’Brien leading the team home in first place, a remarkable achievement as Saoirse is running out of age and will be in this race again next year.
