 Westport AC Membership update

Westport AC is the largest Juvenile Athletics club in Mayo and the seventh largest in Ireland in the latest Athletics Ireland club membership report.  Out of the 366 affiliated clubs with Athletics Ireland, Westport AC is currently 20th overall.  

Snapshots of the April 2024 and September 2023 reports showing below. 


We currently have 432 juvenile members, in September 2023 we had 288 juvenile members so a growth of50% in just over a year with total club membership of 550 and climbing each week. 


This growth is in no small part to our wonderful team of coaches who are nurturing our athletes and giving them space to enjoy getting fit in a fun way. 


We have also had huge investment in our facilities in Horkan's Hill and are eagerly awaiting a tartan track in the coming months. 


We are forever indebted to the generosity and support of so many wonderful businesses and individuals in our Community.

C & C Cellular Mayo U9, 10 & 11 Team Events

WESTPORT AC SUCCESS AT CONNAUGHT INDOORS

Westport Athletic Club juvenile athletes travelled to Athlone recently to compete in the Connaught Indoor Championships and came home with an abundance of medals and many places secured in the All Ireland finals. Aishling Halpin Fahy has an great day taking the silver medal in the U14 long jump together with a bronze in the shot put. Kate O'Malley took gold in the U15 girls shot put with a PB of 9.14m, Jennifer Chambers gold in the U16 girls shot put with a PB of 9.92m.  The field performance...

Sheefry 8K

Sheefry 8k 2014 will take place on Sunday the 9th of March at 12pm. This year the race is in aid of Cystic Fibrosis  and in conjunction with Westport Athletic Club and the Bearded Bar Man Charity Shave.

Connaught Indoor Championship U12-U19 March 1st and 2nd 2014

Connaught Indoor Championships are on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd March in Athlone Institute of Technology. The U12-U15 events will be held on the Saturday and U16-Seniors events will be held on the Sunday.

Please give your name and events at track on Tuesday 18th of February deadline is Thursday 20th. No late entries will be accepted.  €4 per event,

Mayo Indoor Championship 2014

The C & C Cellular Mayo Indoor Athletic Championships were held in Claremorris Athletic track on Sunday. Over five hundred boys and girls competed in over eighty different competitions. Athletes from Achill, Aughagower, Ballina, Castlebar, Claremorris, Lake District, Swinford and Westport competed in an array of athletic disciplines. Mayo Indoor Athletic championships 9th Februaary 2014

Mayo Indoor Competition will be held in Claremorris on Sunday 9th of February 2014 Start Time 10am 

Entry Fee €7 Per Athlete

Athlete's names and the events they are competing in to be given at the track Monday 27th for U9-U11 and Tuesday 28th for U12-U19.

All ages will have relays if sufficient numbers available, coaches will decide relay team members

U9/U10/U11 can choose 2 events plus relay
U12 - U19 can choose 3 events plus relay
