Westport AC is the largest Juvenile Athletics club in Mayo and the seventh largest in Ireland in the latest Athletics Ireland club membership report. Out of the 366 affiliated clubs with Athletics Ireland, Westport AC is currently 20th overall.

We currently have 432 juvenile members, in September 2023 we had 288 juvenile members so a growth of50% in just over a year with total club membership of 550 and climbing each week.

This growth is in no small part to our wonderful team of coaches who are nurturing our athletes and giving them space to enjoy getting fit in a fun way.

We have also had huge investment in our facilities in Horkan's Hill and are eagerly awaiting a tartan track in the coming months.

We are forever indebted to the generosity and support of so many wonderful businesses and individuals in our Community.

Westport Athletics Club U13-U19 had outstanding success in the Connaught Outdoor championship

Kate O’Malley had a great start to the day winning gold in the U13 girls javelin, followed by a silver in the shot putt. The U14 girls relay team consisting of Alannah Gannon, Ruth Gallagher, Jennifer Chambers, Tara McGreevy and Aoife O’Brien ran brilliantly to bring home the gold. Alannah Gannon continued her fantastic day winning silver in the U14 girls hurdles and taking first place in both the high jump and 200m. Streets of Sligo 5k

Final reminder for The Sligo Champion Streets of Sligo 5k on

Sunday next, June 17th. Run in connection with Sligo AC the

race, fun run and walk will be held across a flat, accurate course through Sligo’s historic streets. The race, which has

an AAI permit and chip timing by Precision Timing will start at 1.15 p.m

by the Mayor of Sligo, Clr. Rosaleen O’Grady at Markievicz Road and finish at O’Connell Street.

WESTPORT ATHLETES QUALIFY FOR ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

Westport Athletics Club U9-U12 athletes travelled to Dangan in Galway last Saturday to compete in the Connaught Outdoor championships. Westport AC had a very successful day with a large medal haul for the club. The day started with the U9 boys team of Harry Sheridan and Niall McGreal throwing a combined 37.77m in the ball throw and winning gold. In the U9 girls the long jump team of Emily Chambers and Maggie Chambers jumped their way to the silver medal with a combined jump of 5.46m. Also...
