Westport Athletics Club U9-U11 boys and girls competed very successfully recently in the All Ireland championships held at Cork Institute of Technology.

The U9 girls were well represented by Laura Moran and Roisin O'Brien in the 300m, while Maggie Chambers and Emily Chambers teamed up in the long jump.  Harry Sheridan, together with Niall McGreal joined forces in the U9 boys ball thow, while Niall teamed up with Tomas Gannon in the U9 boys 300m. It was all these U9s first time at All Ireland competition and they did Westport AC proud.

The U11 girls had excellent performances with Caoimhe Gannon and Sarah Harper teaming up for the long jump, while Sarah joined with Annie Noonan in the 60m sprints. Performance of the day went to Caoimhe Gannon and Saoirse O'Brien who ran their hearts out and brought home the bronze in the 600m. Caoimhe, Sarah, Ruth and Annie teamed up to compete in the U11 relay where they went all the way to the final. Click here to view Photo of Bronze Medal Winners.

The All Irelands for the U12-U19 take place in Tullamore on 14th/15th July and 28th/29th July.
